First in!
That's right losers! Britain is the first to license a vaccine. No coincidence that it's being done right before the biggest political miscalculation in history and not at all to save face.
It might be a good vaccine. This might - hopefully - be the right decision. Time will tell, but regardless there is no doubt this has positive political repercussions clearly intended to help rehabilitate the image of this disastrous government. Unfortunately I'm not convinced. Boris is still an utter failure of a human.
So now vaccination begins next week. This will no doubt take a long time. During which restrictions will remain necessary. Hopefully that will be adequately communicated, but... What will be interesting, in this new phase, will be how many people refuse the vaccine. How vocal will the conspiracy fringe be? It won't matter, to the greater society, but the number is crucial for herd immunity. Not that they will care; these people are away with the fairies. I doubt there's any convincing them.
Perhaps this is where the future begins; the dawn of a new humanity. With but a jab we will step into a brave new world. Of course most of us have already been vaccinated, for things like Polio or Chickenpox. But this is a much larger and greater situation; the whole world is waiting on this virus. Maybe then we can begin to adapt to a world with Covid. The first step in hopefully eliminating it, but that's going to take years. Maybe beyond my lifetime.
This is the new humanity. We are altered through chemistry. Some don't like that. But the modern world is too demanding of our humanity. Either we step up or we get steamrolled. I'd say the vaccine is safe. It doesn't make much sense to assume it isn't; that's the conspiracy thought. That somewhere a secret cabal wants to pollute us. Maybe they do, but we've already let them get away with destroying the world and we know they don't give a shit about the working class. Why pretend this is the 'great reset' when you've done nothing to object to capitalism's increasingly oppressive conditions thus far?
